April 1, 2024
E-2023-026E
The Tokyo Foundation for Policy Research hosted an international webinar on March 18, 2024, to conduct comparative review on science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy in Japan and Europe.
To review science, technology, and innovation (STI) policy going forward in Japan, STI policy in the EU is essential not only for comparative review, but for international cooperation. In this workshop, analysis and recommendations on Japan’s STI policy under the Tokyo Foundation’s Reconstructing the Science and Technology Policy System research program were introduced. Then, Susana Borras, Professor at Copenhagen Business School, reported latest trends of the EU’s STI policy regarding Mission Oriented Innovation Policy (MOIP) and Green Transformation (GX). Finally, panelists discussed various practical challenges in dealing with social issues under STI policy. They also reviewed mission-oriented STI policy in relation to regulations and securities issues.
